As Women’s History Month comes to a close, it’s an opportunity to reflect on the progress we’ve made and the work that continues. It’s also a time to recognize the athletes, researchers, coaches, and advocates who helped expand opportunities for women in sport.
The progress has been meaningful and impactful. Participation has grown dramatically. Women compete at the highest levels across endurance sport, strength sport, and professional athletics and more women are leading research, coaching programs, and performance initiatives than ever before.
You may have seen this conversation earlier this year around National Girls & Women in Sports Day and International Women’s Day. These moments help bring attention to the progress that has been made and the work that continues. But supporting women in sport isn’t something that happens on a single day or within a single month. It requires ongoing attention, investment, and action. These moments create awareness. The real impact comes from what happens in between them.
In the past, sport & exercise science research has focused primarily on men and generalized those findings to women. That approach is gradually changing, and the body of research focused specifically on female physiology continues to grow. Understanding how women fuel, recover, and adapt to training across the lifespan helps athletes train smarter, stay healthier, and remain active in sport longer and helps ensure that guidance reflects real physiology rather than assumptions.
Women’s History Month is a reminder that progress didn’t happen by accident. It happened because athletes, researchers, and advocates continued to push for better understanding and better opportunities. Supporting women in sport today means continuing that momentum. It means investing in research, sharing knowledge, and helping active women apply evidence-based guidance in ways that support their performance and long-term health.
At Nutrify Performance, that work remains central to our mission. And we look forward to continuing it alongside the active women we support every day.
