Today is Hunger Action Day, the heartbeat of Hunger Action Month. All September, communities nationwide are lighting the way on food insecurity—and we’re proud to lace up with them.
Nutrify is excited to sponsor this year’s Franklin Turkey Trot, a cherished 5K Thanksgiving morning tradition that powers up the Franklin Food Pantry and helps feed neighbors when giving matters most. Last year, the Turkey Trot raised a record $49,630, thanks to more than 950 runners and 65 generous sponsors. The funds directly supported over 1,800 individuals and families in our community.
Why our support matters more than ever
According to the Greater Boston Food Bank’s 2025 Cost of Hunger in Massachusetts report, food insecurity has reached staggering levels:
- 1 in 3 households (37%) in Massachusetts experienced food insecurity in the past year
- Nearly 1 in 4 households (24%) faced very low food security—meaning skipped meals or days without eating at all
- These numbers have nearly doubled since 2019
At the same time, reductions in federal SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) funding have left families with fewer resources to put food on the table. That means more families right here at home may not know where their next meal is coming from and rely local food pantries like Franklin’s to play an even more critical role in filling the gap.
And for us, the Franklin Turkey Trot isn’t just a race—it’s an opportunity to run a purpose, fuel our community, and bring holiday hope.
