In celebration of World Brain Day (July 22), we’re excited to share two new MIND Diet–inspired recipe packs (omnivore & plant‑based) created by registered dietitians. These packs are now available for client download (login required).
What is the MIND Diet?
MIND stands for Mediterranean‑DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay. Developed at Rush University Medical Center, it combines the components of the Mediterranean and DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diets:
- Mediterranean Diet: whole grains, legumes, vegetables, fruits, nuts and fish, with smaller amounts of meat, eggs and diary
- DASH Diet: fruits, vegetables, whole grains, poultry, fish and nuts while limiting sodium, added sugars and red meat
Why the MIND Diet?
Neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s affect millions worldwide. Research suggests that the MIND dietary approach may help support:
- Sharper focus, memory, and attention
- Lower risk and slower progression of cognitive decline
- Reduced inflammation to support heart, immune, and metabolic health
- Better blood sugar control and improved metabolic function
- Balanced cholesterol levels that support long‑term cardiovascular health
